2022 harvest report
a late spring frost created Lower yields from Malbec and cabernet franc - long cycle varietals - which typically translates to very high quality grapes. winemaker pablo Martorell was particularly struck by the intensity and balance of the fruit.
The growing season itself was ‘vintage’ Uco Valley with warm - and hot - days, intense sun from the altitude and cool nights. However, due to an early fALL frost a challenging harvest started the first week of March. This is about 2 weeks earlier than expected, and the earliest harvest the Vines has ever recorded.
Due to the cooler temperatures Fermentations were longer, 12 days on average rather than the usual 8 days, which adds a greater complexity to the wines. as a result, in general, this year’s vintages will exhibit good acidity, medium body, and lower alcohol.
